What Is a Back to Wall Toilet?

A back to wall toilet has a floor-standing pan where the cistern is hidden — either inside a WC furniture unit or inside a stud wall — with only the pan and a flush button visible in the bathroom. Back to wall pans differ from close coupled toilets in that no cistern sits on the pan — the wall behind takes the supply connection to a concealed cistern. Using a WC unit provides storage shelf space on top; using an in-wall cistern frame creates a fully flush finish with the wall surface.
