How a Spray Pull-Out Aerator Tap Works

A spray pull-out aerator tap has a flexible hose inside the spout body that extends to a removable spray head. At the spray head, a button or lever lets you toggle between two output modes: an aerated stream — a soft, steady flow for filling pots and everyday rinsing — and a wide spray mode, a fan-shaped output for rinsing produce, cleaning dishes and scrubbing the sink bowl. The hose typically extends 40–60cm, letting you direct water to exactly where you need it in the sink. Most models in this range are single-lever mixers that fit through a standard 35mm single tap hole, so they install in the same way as a conventional kitchen mixer.

Pull-out taps in this range are available in chrome and matt black. Because the hose retracts via a counterweight inside the tap body, you need adequate cabinet clearance beneath the sink — typically at least 30cm of open space below the spout base for the counterweight to hang freely. Check the spout height and reach against your sink bowl depth to ensure the spray head can extend forward without the hose binding on the cabinet front.
