What Is a Standard Bath?

A standard bath is a single-ended rectangular bath designed to fit into an alcove or against three walls. The tap end is fixed at one end of the bath, which slopes upward from the deeper tap end towards the shallower foot end. With 43 models in the range, Bathroom Republic stocks standard baths in the sizes that cover most UK alcoves — typically 1500mm, 1600mm, 1700mm and 1800mm in length, and 700mm or 750mm in width. Sizing, Width and What to Pair With a Standard Bath

For most UK bathrooms, 1700mm × 700mm is the most common size and the one most alcoves are built around. If the alcove is 1700mm but shoulder room is a priority, a 1700mm × 750mm version provides a more comfortable soak without any change to the alcove width. A 1500mm or 1600mm bath is worth considering where the alcove is shorter, or where the WC or vanity unit sits close to the bath end. To complete the installation you'll need a bath waste and overflow, a panel to close off the exposed side, and either pillar taps or a bath filler.
