What Is a Vanity Worktop?
A vanity worktop is a flat slab that sits across the top of a bathroom vanity unit carcass, providing a surface for a countertop or inset basin to rest on or drop into. Unlike vanity units with an integrated basin built into the top panel, a separate worktop gives you the freedom to choose your basin independently and pair it with any unit that shares compatible dimensions. Most vanity worktops are manufactured from moisture-resistant MDF with a laminate or foil finish, though solid surface options are also available for a smooth, easy-clean result. The worktop is usually supplied pre-drilled with one or two basin cut-outs to suit the basin size, or as a full blank slab for custom cutting on site.
Sizes, Finishes and What to Check Before Buying
Worktops in this range are sized to match standard vanity unit widths, typically from 600 mm to 1200 mm, with depths to suit both 450 mm and 500 mm carcasses. When ordering, confirm the cut-out diameter against your chosen basin and check whether fixings or adhesive are included. Browse Countertop Vanity Units if you prefer a unit with a worktop already integrated, or see Freestanding Vanity Units for a complete floor-standing setup.
