What Is a Close Coupled Toilet?

A close coupled toilet has the cistern sitting directly on a ledge at the back of the pan, with both units bolted together as a single floor-standing assembly. Close coupled toilets are the most widely installed type in UK bathrooms — straightforward to plumb, service and replace without specialist tools. Projection from wall ranges from 600 mm for compact short-projection models to 820 mm for full-size pans. Comfort height models raise the pan so the seat sits at 45 cm or above, level with a standard chair seat.
