What Is an LED Bathroom Mirror?

An LED bathroom mirror has a strip or panel of LED lights integrated behind or around the edge of the mirror glass, providing soft directional lighting at face level — where you actually need it — without the shadows caused by overhead ceiling lights alone. The light activates via a touch sensor or motion sensor on the mirror face, requiring no separate wall switch. LED mirrors in this range are available in rectangular, square, round and shaped profiles, with cool white and warm white light temperatures depending on the model. Some mirrors include a built-in magnifying section — typically a 5x or 10x inset — for close-up tasks such as applying make-up or shaving. All mirrors are IP-rated for safe bathroom use and include wall fixings.

Size, Electrical Requirements and What to Consider

LED mirrors are sized by overall width and height. A mirror between 600mm and 800mm wide suits a single basin; wider mirrors from 900mm to 1200mm suit double basins or a broader vanity run. Most LED mirrors require a mains electrical connection behind the wall for the lighting circuit — this must be installed by a qualified electrician before the mirror is fitted.
