What a Basin Overflow Does

A basin overflow is the small cap or ring that covers the overflow hole near the top of the basin. Its purpose is functional: if the tap is left running, water channels through the overflow hole and drains away rather than spilling onto the floor. The visible cap sits flush against the basin face and is the element you choose for finish and style. Most UK basins with an overflow use a standard 25 mm aperture — confirm the size on your basin before ordering.
