What Is a Full-Pedestal Basin?
A full-pedestal basin uses a column pedestal that runs from the floor all the way up to the basin, concealing the waste trap and supply pipes behind it. This is in contrast to a semi-pedestal (which covers only the lower pipe section) or a wall-mounted basin (where pipework is boxed in or left exposed). Full-pedestal basins are the most traditional installation type — they require no load-bearing wall fixing, as the pedestal takes the basin's weight, making them well suited to stud walls or older bathroom walls where heavy wall fixings are not straightforward. Most full-pedestal basins at Bathroom Republic are white vitreous china, available in widths from 500 mm to 600 mm.
What to Check Before Buying
Confirm the basin width and the number of tap holes — one or three. Standard basin taps fit all full-pedestal models. For compact alternatives, browse Cloakroom Basins. For a wall-mounted finish, see Wall-Mounted Basins. For a vessel-style option, explore Counter-Top Basins. Return to Basins for the full range.
