Bathroom Republic stocks 231 baths across four main types: standard baths, steel baths, shower baths and P-shaped baths. Standard baths are single-ended rectangular acrylic baths for alcove or three-wall installations — the most common bath shape in UK bathrooms. Steel baths share the same single-ended rectangular format but are made from enamelled steel: significantly heavier, with a harder surface and longer heat retention once filled. Shower baths have a wider end at the tap position, designed to be used with a bath shower screen for overhead showering; P-shaped baths are an asymmetric version of shower baths with a curved rounded end. The range also covers double-ended baths, where the overflow sits centrally and taps mount at the midpoint, allowing use from either end.

Which Bath Type Suits Your Bathroom?

The shape of your bathroom determines which bath type fits. An alcove or three-wall recess suits a standard or steel bath — both are rectangular and designed to be panelled on one exposed side. If you currently shower over the bath and want more standing room, a shower bath or P-shaped bath provides a wider end specifically shaped for showering with a screen above. The choice between acrylic and steel comes down to weight and longevity: acrylic baths at 15–25kg are straightforward to install on upper floors with standard timber-joist construction; steel baths at 40–60kg need additional support but resist surface scratching and retain heat longer.
