What Is a High Rise Basin Tap?

A high rise basin tap — sometimes called a tall basin tap or vessel tap — has an extended body and raised spout, designed for use above countertop and vessel basins where the bowl sits elevated above a vanity worktop. Standard mono mixer taps typically have a spout height of around 140–180mm; high rise taps start at around 200mm and can reach 300mm or more. The extra height ensures the spout clears the basin rim and delivers water cleanly into the bowl at the correct angle. High rise taps fit through a standard single central tap hole (35–38mm diameter) in the same way as a conventional mono mixer.

Most high rise taps in this range use a single-lever ceramic cartridge for precise temperature and flow control. Finish options include chrome, matt black and brushed gold. The tall body makes proportionality important — compare the tap height against the internal depth of your basin to ensure the spout sits at the right height without overpowering the bowl.
