What Makes a Tap Compact or Cloakroom-Sized?
A compact tap has a lower overall height and a shorter spout reach than a standard mono mixer, making it proportionate to smaller basins. Standard basin mono mixers typically have a spout reach of 120–150mm and a total height of 170–200mm. Compact and cloakroom taps come in at roughly 80–120mm reach and 100–140mm height. This shorter profile prevents overspray onto a small basin deck and fits within the tighter wall-to-basin clearances common in cloakroom WCs. All taps in this range fit through a single central 35–38mm tap hole and connect via standard flexible hoses to your hot and cold supplies.
Finishes and What to Check Before Buying
Most compact taps in this range use a single-lever ceramic cartridge. Finishes include chrome, matt black and brushed gold. Match the tap finish to your basin waste, towel ring and toilet roll holder for a consistent look throughout the room. For larger standard basins with a single hole, see Basin Mixer Taps. For traditional two-hole basins needing separate hot and cold taps, browse Twin Basin Taps. Always check the minimum water pressure rating in the spec before purchasing.
