Flat Panel and Ladder Heated Towel Rails
A heated towel rail is a bathroom radiator fitted with horizontal bars or rails designed to hold towels and keep them warm while also providing space heating. There are two main styles in this range: flat panel radiators, which have a smooth front panel and a more compact profile suited to smaller bathrooms, and ladder rails, which have exposed horizontal bars — traditionally chrome tubular construction — that allow towels to hang clear of the body and dry evenly between uses. Both types connect to the central heating circuit in the same way as a standard radiator and typically include a lockshield valve at one end. Some models are available in dual-fuel or electric-only configurations, allowing the rail to be used independently of the main heating system.
Sizes, Finishes and BTU Output
Heated towel rails in this range are available in chrome, matt black, brushed brass and anthracite. Chrome is the most widely stocked finish and the easiest to match against existing fixtures; matt black suits dark or neutral schemes; brushed brass works with warm-toned taps and accessories. Rail dimensions are given in height × width — a taller rail provides more bar length for hanging towels, while a wider rail produces a higher BTU output for space heating. Check the product listing for the BTU or watt output and compare it against the heat loss figure for your bathroom before ordering.
