Double Vanity Units

A double vanity unit is bathroom furniture designed to provide two separate washing areas, usually with storage below the basins. Some models feature a single twin-basin ceramic top fitted over one or more cabinets, while others use two individual basins.

Double vanity units are also known as his and hers vanity units because two people can use the basins simultaneously. They are particularly useful in shared bathrooms where separate washing areas and additional storage are needed.

The right size depends on the available wall width, cabinet depth and space required to move comfortably around the bathroom. A 1200mm double vanity unit is a useful starting point when looking for two washing areas in a shared bathroom, provided the room can accommodate its full dimensions.

Some Bathroom Republic 1200mm-class designs combine two 595mm cabinets with a single 1205mm-wide ceramic twin basin. Check the exact overall width rather than relying on the nominal size.

Before ordering, measure the available wall space, check the basin and cabinet depth, and allow clearance for opening doors or drawers. Confirm that the existing plumbing layout can accommodate both basin positions.

A wall-hung double vanity unit is fixed to a suitable supporting wall, leaving the floor underneath visible and easier to clean. This arrangement creates a contemporary appearance and may suit bathrooms where maintaining visible floor space is important.

A floorstanding double vanity unit sits on the floor and provides storage through cabinet doors or drawers, depending on the model. It may suit bathrooms where a traditional cabinet arrangement is preferred.

Both types require suitable plumbing connections. For wall-hung designs, the wall structure and fixings must be capable of supporting the installed unit and basin. Check the product's installation requirements and seek professional fitting advice where necessary.

Yes. In the UK, double sink vanity units and double basin vanity units generally refer to bathroom furniture with two washing areas. The terms are often used interchangeably.

The main difference between products is their construction. Some feature one continuous ceramic basin with two separate bowls, while others have two individual basins positioned above a wider vanity cabinet or coordinated furniture units.

When comparing designs, check the number of basins, tap holes, overall dimensions and included components rather than relying on the product name alone.

Package contents vary between products. Selected Bathroom Republic twin-basin vanity sets include two storage cabinets and a matching ceramic basin with two separate washing areas. Basin taps, wastes and additional plumbing fittings may be sold separately.

Before purchasing, check whether the chosen vanity includes the basin, the number of pre-drilled tap holes and the type of waste fittings required. A double basin arrangement may need separate tap and waste connections for each washing area.

Check the individual product description, package contents and technical specifications to confirm exactly what is supplied.
