What Are Bath Panels and Which Type Do You Need?

A bath panel covers the exposed sides and ends of an alcove bath. Without panels, the underside of the bath and the floor beneath it are visible from the room. Bathroom Republic's range of 55 bath panels covers four types: front panels (closing the long exposed side of the bath), end panels (closing the short exposed end), combined front and end panel sets for corner installations, and storage panels — front panels with a built-in door or hatch for access to the space beneath the bath. Panels are available in a range of finishes and standard UK bath lengths.

Sizing, Height and Fitting Considerations

Bath panels are sized to match standard UK bath lengths — 1500mm, 1600mm, 1700mm and 1800mm. The panel height is standardised to fit most baths, but always confirm the floor-to-rim measurement before ordering, as baths sit at different heights on their adjustable feet. Front panels typically attach to the bath frame with a track or clip system and are designed to be removed for access to plumbing below — confirm the attachment method before tiling in front of the panel edge. End panels are only needed where the short end of the bath is exposed: in a fully recessed three-wall alcove, no end panel is required; in a corner or L-shaped position where one end faces open floor space, an end panel is needed. Storage panels are the same width and height as a standard front panel and replace it with a hinged or removable door. Pair with a bath screen if the bath is also used for showering.
