How Sliding Door Shower Enclosures Work
A sliding door shower enclosure has one or two door panels that travel along a horizontal track — they slide left or right rather than swinging outward. The panels overlap in the centre when closed and slide behind each other to create the opening. No clearance is needed in front of the shower at all, making sliding door enclosures the right choice for bathrooms where the floor space in front of the shower is restricted. Bathroom Republic stocks 132 sliding door shower enclosures in chrome and matte black, available as enclosure-only panels or as complete sets with a matching shower tray and side panel included.
Shapes, Sizes and Finishes
Sliding door enclosures are available in three shapes: rectangular (flat front, alcove or corner fit), square (flat front, equal-length walls, corner fit) and quadrant (curved front, corner fit). Sizes run from 700mm up to 1200mm wide across the range, in chrome and matte black. If you already know your enclosure shape, go straight to the relevant collection:
Sliding Door vs Bi-Fold and Pivot Door Enclosures
Bi-fold doors fold inward in two panels when opened — they project slightly into the shower interior but need no external clearance in front. Pivot doors open on a fixed hinge and swing outward, requiring clear floor space in front of the shower. Sliding doors need neither: no clearance inside the shower and no clearance outside it.
