What Are Traditional Taps?

Traditional taps are characterised by separate hot and cold controls — typically crosshead handles, capstan tops or lever crossheads — combined with polished chrome or nickel spouts and bodies. This configuration has its roots in Victorian and Edwardian plumbing, where function was expressed through visible craftsmanship: intricate handle profiles, porcelain hot and cold indicators, and pillar-format tap bodies rather than the blended mono mixer that became the standard in the second half of the 20th century. Finishes, Hole Configurations and Compatibility

Chrome is the standard finish across most traditional tap ranges, giving the polished reflective look associated with Victorian bathroom design. Brushed nickel and antique brass are available in selected ranges for schemes with a warmer or more aged character.
